Organisation and implementation of a didactic process

Image
The organization and implementation of a didactic process involve several steps and considerations to ensure that the learning objectives are met effectively. It begins with defining the learning objectives, which must be specific and measurable Plan the curriculum. At this stage, the curriculum sets the pace for choosing what is needed. I used to think that curriculum was a tool that limited teachers, as the institutions have some expectations that must be met, in spite of the actual needs of the students and the teachers on the field. But now I think that a curriculum is not the goal to be achieved, but the means to achieve the ultimate goal of meeting students' needs, with the teachers being able to remodel it to fit their specific teaching/learning context Develop a syllabus or course outline that covers the learning objectives and is aligned with the appropriate learning outcomes. Consider the level of the course and the needs of the students. I think this element is the ma...

MY POTENTIAL AS A TEACHER

Image
MY POTENTIAL AS A TEACHER Although becoming a teacher has never been my dream, I have always had that urge to share what I know. In the beginning, teaching, especially language teaching, looked like focusing on content, forms, and structures, as directed by a fixed curriculum which must be accomplished to meet some institutional and statutory objectives, aims, and goals. But over the years, my thinking has matured with practices, and experiences of both successes and failures. They were motivated by a strong belief that needed to be passed onto the learners, but this time, to achieve a more laudable goal, that of molding mindsets and personalities; This is the source of my passion and enthusiasm for teaching. This is the core component of my potential as a teacher. I cannot count how many times I thought of quitting, but I am still there. I am convinced that even if I finally quit, I will still be attached by a string to the teaching profession. During one of our courses in the first...

LITTERACY TOPIC 2 : CULTURE The lesson was based on the patriotic week, running from 7th to 10th November, and the aim was to impact the students about the history and cultural values of Poland, and to develop speaking, listening, writing and reading skills Each student was given a Polish historical female character to work on. They had to make a presentation about the life and actions of their characters, that made them influence their country as national heroes. I think this approach engaged the students because they had top work individually, and on different characters, so they had the responsibility to educate their peers about the achievements of their respective characters. This surely led them to concentrate and do a good job. And really, they impressed me with their presentation, especially the student who is usually so easily distracted such that the assistant teacher spends a lot of time with him. His presentation was even one of the longest. . The teacher used previo...

REFLECTION ON LITERACY: MATHEMATICS / SCIENCE

Image
LITERACY: MATHEMATICS / SCIENCE I found it very interesting to discover that as English language teachers, we would be specifically trained to include mathematics and sciences in our language unit lesson plans. Although I must admit, I was a bit confused about why it would form part of our courses. And you also worried about how we would be evaluated on these... Solving some equations or other mathematics stuff, because my level in mathematics has always been very poor. So, I could imagine the anxiety of students when they would be asked to solve real mathematics by their English teacher! Nonetheless, during the mathematics courses, I understood there were better ways to teach and make students love mathematics. I have not had the opportunity to observe this within a language lesson during my practicum. However, during our visit to the American School of Warsaw, I discovered what I would call an arsenal of tools to provide enough practical scaffolding to the students while te...

Reflection: Classroom Environment : Monnet International School

Image
19-09-2022 REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT The class began at 8.30, with 12 students, and they had a series of activities on introduction, assigning responsibilities,  discussing what they did over the weekend  in class, and demonstrating the cardinal points. The classroom is divided into 2 parts, the carpet at the back of the class. The students use the carpet for their warmup activities, group work, reading, and eating their snacks during break.  They can also go to the carpet to isolate themselves when they are not in the mood to follow the lesson, and during such moments the assistant teacher helps to comfort them, keep them company and encourage them to join the class or do their tasks.  This space is important because it provides a relaxing and convivial setting for learning to teach, promoting closer interaction among the students and teachers who feel a little bit at home. In front of the class, the desks are a set of tables, and chairs are arrange...

LEARNER'S LOG

Reflection of First Semester Experience Miamo Lydie Department of Pedagogy, University of Warsaw M3 - Professional and Academic Discourse 2300-GPTE-M3-PAD: First-Year Writing Professor MaƂgorzata Matysik 15th February 2022       Reflection of First Semester Experience I am requested to write a reflection on my whole experience during my journey so far as a master’s student for the Graduate Program in Teaching English to Young Learners. While many of my classmates might not really know where to start, my own concern is where to end, because there is so much to write that I need to be diligent not to turn what is intended to be a simple reflection into a voluminous coursebook. Some classmates called me “teacher”, each time I told them about the number of pages I have written for most of our writing assignments. But I will try as much as possible to give the essential, a sort of final product, and preserve and spare the r...
