Organisation and implementation of a didactic process
The organization and implementation of a didactic process involve several steps and considerations to ensure that the learning objectives are met effectively. It begins with defining the learning objectives, which must be specific and measurable Plan the curriculum. At this stage, the curriculum sets the pace for choosing what is needed. I used to think that curriculum was a tool that limited teachers, as the institutions have some expectations that must be met, in spite of the actual needs of the students and the teachers on the field. But now I think that a curriculum is not the goal to be achieved, but the means to achieve the ultimate goal of meeting students' needs, with the teachers being able to remodel it to fit their specific teaching/learning context
Develop a syllabus or course outline that covers the learning objectives and is aligned with the appropriate learning outcomes. Consider the level of the course and the needs of the students. I think this element is the main reason why a lesson plan is very important, no matter the years of teaching experience we can have. This will require the following stages. 1. Choosing the teaching materials and strategies: Choose appropriate teaching materials and strategies to help students achieve the learning objectives. Consider the age, level, cultural background, and learning style of the students. Use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles. 2. Planning assessment methods: Plan assessment methods that align with the learning objectives and the learning outcomes. Consider formative and summative assessment methods that will provide feedback to both the teacher and students. 3. Implementing the lesson plan: Follow the lesson plan, engage with the students, and provide guidance to them. Monitor their progress and adapt teaching strategies to their needs. 4. Assessing the learning outcomes: Here I have to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching process by assessing the learning outcomes. Analyze the assessment data and modify the course as needed. 5. Reflect and improve: Reflect on the teaching process and outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Incorporate feedback from students and colleagues to improve the teaching process and student learning outcomes. To conclude, although these stages greatly help the teaching and learning journey, I am quite conscious that to make it flexible and adaptable in the teaching practices to meet the specific needs of my specific students. I must not neglect cultural differences so as to accommodate students from different backgrounds.
