M4 - Student practice clinic (2300-GPTE-M4-SPRC/1) (rok akademicki 2021/22)      This is a class held periodically, and it is our only lesson on Wednesday. It was supposed to start at 8:45 am and end at 1:00 pm, according to our timetable. But Madam Paulina Marchlik explained that for now, since we have not yet started fieldwork, we will be having online lessons from 3:30 pm to 5 pm because right now it is the time for practices in schools; surely the final-year students. Before she began the lesson, Madam Paulina ensured that everything was alright, had clear sound and that students were comfortable. She was funny, struggling to adjust her earpiece, just naturally, as if she was not in front of the students. I mean, when I compared with my professors back at home, they were intimidating, always too orderly, and "teacher-like". We needed to gather our courage to approach them, though things have changed now.        Then she did a reca...

Reflection on the Video on Lekcja języka angielskiego - Dąbrówka (English Lesson :Reading)

Reflection on the Video on English Lesson Dąbrówka (Reading) The lesson began with no defined lesson objectives at all, something like  “ Ok, kids, today we are going to do reading, but first I would like you to move to the floor in the order in which I will tell you…” When I started taking down notes about the video, I taught the teacher was confusing the kids with her questions on colors. Then without waiting for the answers, she asked “who has something black?”. It’s is only later that I understood that it was actually a very organized way to move the kids from one place to the other, just like she later aligned them by classifying them under “banana” and “apple”.  It was very new to me.  The only thing with this is that she didn’t really check if the kids were following her instructions because the first girl ...

My refflection on Lekcja Angielskiego w Szkole Żagle (English lesson at school sails)   The first scene I watched from the video made me feel pity for the teacher. The kids are fidgeting here and there, and he needs to deploy so much effort to catch their attention. I can imagine what the situation can be, because that is almost how my French lessons were. In fact, back then, I was teaching French to the whole school at different periods, and when you entered the school compound, you could easily tell in which class Mme Lydie was, just because of the noise. Anyway, that's how I got the to make the students love French and eagerly wait for my period. It was like break before/after break, from their other boring subjects. I was always exhausted at the end of the day, but at the same time, I was satisfied to see that the English-speaking kids would go home to say one or two words in French. I am sure this teacher enjoys his job like I do.  I felt...
